Title: Fuel line lengths
Post by: Prof on July 31, 2006, 08:20:31 AM
Does anyone happen to know how long the following rubber fuel lines are in the engine bay:

1)  Small line between primary and secondary rails
2)  Main feed from the Fuel filter to the Secondary rail
3)  Return feed from the Primary rail to the hard piping back to the tank

I have measured very approximate lengths, but these things are easier to measure when off the car, and I don\'t want to touch them until I have to.

When I do my upgrades later on (next 2 months all being well) I wanted to replace the fuel hoses at the same time, but I want to have everything ordered in so I am not scrabbling about for bits.

Many thanks in advance...

Prof.

No one got an engine out or some old pipes lying around then ?

Didn\'t really want to take the bugger apart before I had the replacement bits to fit... :(

I did measure up the 2 fuel lines at the back of the engine bay - I got 230mm and 380mm respectively - but there appears to be another 2 short rubber runs under the UIM that carry the fuel in and out of the fuel line manifolds, as well as the short piece between the 2 manifolds.  Trouble is you can\'t see these pipes until you take the intercooler and UIM off.

Now where did I put those x-ray specs again....  :cool :cool :cool

I have the pipes off of an EGI lying in the workshop, but I dont think that A) they are the same and B) That they have the rubbers on the end.

Give one of the Rx7 parts guys a ring, they must have some laying aorund spare :)

Thing is there is some fella on eBay selling precut and terminated lengths of braided fuel line, with the clamps and everything, and these come in varying lengths so would suit the job nicely. :yes

Don\'t need to know exactly, but to the nearest 5cm - as they come in 10cm, 15, 20 and so on.

Since I am replacing the secondary fuel line and injectors, I wanted to replace the hoses at the same time as part of a general engine tidy up. :yes
