ok i want to get rid of the hot air under the bonnet whilst driving, ive seen that you can lift the back of the bonnet on a few cars which seem like a good plan until i get the old vented bonnet.
HOW IS THIS DONE????
Rmaj
I have a carbon fibre bonnet on mine and i lifted it at the back too... The difference was unreal!!!
Theres 4 bolts holdin the boonet to the rails on the car take them off and put spacers on... Make sure you use strong bolts tho as it puts alot more strain on them especially at high speed....
Andy
interesting, do you see much difference on intake temps?? and general under bonnet temp??
Rmaj
Sitting in traffic not really.. But when i was horsing it around the track and im mean i was giving it death when i pulled in the strut brace was stone cold and i could touch the turbo as it wasnt that hot...
Altho i do have a sexy style front bumper and a vmount setup...
But still every little helps...
Andy
i have 1" bonnet raisers inma garage if ya want to buy um bud.. they came with my first rex, owner must have thought the same thing :D
I know a couple of people whove done this watching the temps, and the temps have gone up. Airflow is important. It might work, but if youre not carefull it can be worse.

Dont think its anything to do with front mounts and rads, but more to do with how the air is supposed to flow through the engine bay. I suspect its meant to exit into the exhaust tunnel, rather than through the top of the bonnet so you could potentially end up cooling something else (ie a cold strut brace when youd rather a cold engine).
Not saying its not going to work, but ive seen evidence of it not working. Worth thinking about thats all.
good point lee, think i might do a recorded experiment, perhaps i will pop over one weekend and see you, and we can have a look??
Rmaj
Agree with Lee, and not with Andy. There was a video clip of an FD in a wind tunnel. It had those little air markers on it, and with the raised bonnet it pulled air into the engine bay. It is a low pressure point.
This has all been asked before.

hmmmm...the plot thickens...dont suppose you know where the vid is fishy old bean??
