Hi all :)
Is it just my cabin or does everyone\'s FD get bloody hot?
Its not to bad in the winter but now the weather has warmed up its getting unbearable!...Wanted to go to europe some time in the future but there is no way i could stand the ****** heat..
Does everyones\'s FD centre console get really hot also?..starting to wonder if i have a problem somewhere? :flamed
its the heat from the engine bud, heats the heat shield i think and it passes through to the cabin? im probly totally wrong lol
Think its normal. Ours does it but weve got ac. The gearstick (metal bit at the bottom) gets hot too.
Mine gets bloody hot! I have aircon but its not working at the mo got a leak somewere, Plus i have full black leather so i burn myself every time i get init lol!:(
Mine gets stupidly hot, but I think they all do. I find it bad driving at over 50 ish with the windows down too. The buffeting is really bad.
Well i really could not handle the heat myself! fortunately i have a sun roof, which helps, i also have a sun visor for the sun roof which allows you to direct cooling air into the cabin with adjustable flaps, but that only works when your moving, the best of the lot is to get the air/con working, that is magic, close all the windows go for a drive to cool down, i just regassed it last week, so pleased i did, well worth the effort, cost me just under £60 had to do something, stripping off looks a bit sus!

I was just about to ask this very question as just got back in after a drive and am close to blady fainting!!!
I\'ve been quoted £200 for re gass in air con as it has old gas and connector in it! Does that sound right?
Anyway if this heat carries on I\'ll pay it!
If the aircon is working right then you can get the cabin of an FD very comfortable even in very hot weather. I\'ve always been impressed at how good it is for a 14 year old car.
The a/c should blow freezing cold air and should take about 3 minuits to cool the cabin from an oven to a nice comfortable temp. I usually put the recirculate button onto recirculate so it does not let warm air in from outside, also the lap vent under the steering wheel is nice to cool my betty swollocks down
the air con in a hilux surf is amazing..... it starts snowing when ya wack it on :D

Uhm.......Either you\'ve got an overactive imagination or you need to get your aircon fixed......:bandit
jealous?? :P lol
Mine doesnt work eather, pushed the button some time ago and the air was actualy warmer than without it on!!! and yes, mine gets hot inside on a run to, so I have it on cold, windows down & shades on :cool
Jono
mine dont work either and its hot
Mines booked in to get fixed next week cant wait, im fed up of looking like iv walked through a hurricane everytime i get out my car lol:Thumbsup!
Apparently if it just needs re filling you can now buy refill kits from halfords for about £40 now which isnt a bad price :cool
I ripped my aircon out, never get to hot, the cold air that comes out the normal fans is great...:)
My friend took his cab down to Kwik Bodge as they do it for £45

LOL :rollin
Mine blows ice cold, must have been regassed in Japan at some point. The girlfriend often moans that she’s too cold when its been on a while!

Does the temp get over 23 your side of the border fella???? every time I\'ve been up scotland its always been about 10 degrees!!

Certainly does my friend, it is actually a myth that its always cold up here. The last mammoth died just before i was born and haggis can\'t survive at temperatures below 5 degrees... ;)

Take it you haven\'t discovered the temperature control knob yet then...:Giggle

I like it cold, she just has to get used to it, goosebumps or no goosebumps! :Laugh
I think smarts was telling me that his was testd after regassing and the air coming out was 2C!!! Mine is disconnected at the mo and I need to look at how to fit the rad in without interfering with the ducting I want for the rad.
Car gets very very hot (dark colours are bad in summer) but I\'ve found that as long as both windows are down thebuffeting is bearable (at up to 125mph) so should be fine for motorway cruising.
Yup - as Iain says, had mine re-done and it went from heating the cabin before the work to absolutely bloody freezing, which is a good thing of course.
It did cost close to the £200 mentioned above as it had old (and toxic??) gas in it so a few bits had to be replaced and the system flushed, but the engineer did report that when it was first working it was knocking out air at 2degrees (as it exits the vent of course, not in the rest of the car). Don\'t think i ever had it on full cold after that, no matter what the sun situation.
Si.
I can\'t remember the last time I had a car with air-con; they\'ve all been ripped out or just didn\'t work. :-) My 300zxTT had the heater matrix bypassed as well. In february it was more comfortable to take the roof off to demist the windows than to blow freezing air onto my feet. I must have looked crazy driving around with the roof off wearing full arctic kit (no joke!). I\'m glad the rex has got a heater in it, not that I intend to drive it this winter if I can help it.

Wuss!!! ;)
Haha, don\'t get paid to be hard anymore (not sure I ever was anyhow?) :) I\'m a fat, soft civvy these days.
You think drving around in a rex with the windows down is hot! You should try doing CPR in the back of an Ambulance with no air con and no windows to open! now that hot work.
Saying that, i\'m thinking of getting my air con sorted out soon. Maybe not this year, but at least for next years summer sun :D
