Title: Water Pump Housing Sensors
Post by: nikp on July 19, 2006, 12:13:46 AM
What are the 2 sensors on the back of the water pump housings? I only ask as i have a replacement water pump housing that has space only for one sensor. I know i can drill and tap a new hole if necassary, but i know that one of those sensors is a cooling fan thermoswitch, which i don\'t need any more.

So if anyone knows what the two sensors are, and which ones are which, would be great.

oh, and what model only had one sensor back there!?

first i thought they all had 2 sensors nik! but mines a 93,one is a thermoswitch, which switches on the relay (no3 i think) for cooling fans direct as in not via the ecu, this thermoswitch has only one wire, and has a black plug on it,  i think the other one is for the ecu, this may help, picture 10,

On the back of the thermostat housing the green one at the top is the gauge one and the black single wire sensor directly underneath is the fan sensor.

Cheers guys,

Are they both the same thread? As, like i said, i can dump the thermoswitch one - my fans are only one speed and are turned on my the ecu, so i only want the second sensor.
