Title: Annoying fd engine rattle!!!
Post by: per5y on July 17, 2006, 06:31:36 PM
I have a \'93 fd with an annoying problem.
On deceleration she has a rattle that sounds just like loose heat sheilding. But that\'s all ok. It comes from the off side of the engine bay, it sounds like coming from the turbo pack heatsheilding but i\'ve held them while running and not them, or my hks front pipe but i\'m sure it\'s not that, as new. I\'ve checked everything i can think of, but it\'s coming from that area somewhere. She runs great, infact not bin back long from reworx, everything fine. But it\'s had this noise for ages, it\'s just got a little worse to the point of driving me mad. Has anyone else had this???
Thanx

Worth a look. Good idea mate, but no.
Thought i\'d cracked it found front pipe to man studs a bit loose so, off came the front pipe(not the best of jobs) tightened them... Still the same!
Might have to take a trip down to geoff\'s as it\'s got me stumped and it\'s SO annoying!!
 Thanks again.

Hello M8.
sorry for the delay. I don\'t see how it can be related to the air pump(just removed mine) but, it turned out to be...there is an actuator at the front of the turbo pack towards the front of the car, with a rod going into the t/pack. There is a plate near the entry point, four bolts if i remember. Inside is a flap controlled by the rod and it was this flapping loose making a \'chattering noise\'. The rod is like a track rod with an adjustable end, so, with 2x pairs of molegrips i extended the rod so it held the flap tight when shut. Afterwards i checked with geoff(reworx) that this was ok...She\'s been great ever since!!!
I hope this helps...Need anymore help let me know.
