Post by: AndyGen3 on July 16, 2006, 07:58:27 PM
Lads i have a small oil leak from the sump and was wondering is it possible to take it off reseal it with sealant and then put it back on with out removong the engine? Have a time attack at the end of the month and need to get it sorted by then! Or will it do any harm??

Cheers

It is possible, you need to be able to support engine weight from above across wings with brace as it involves dropping down subframe. It is alot easier on a proper ramp.

Brace engine from above
Unbolt steering rack from subframe, engine mounts from subframe
Unbolt subframe and and let it hang, unbolt engine mounts from block,
Can now get to sump bolts and sump will come off.

Thats a basic how to mate, hope that helps.
