Dont know for sure what caused it but the fuel gauge started going funny which is why I was going into the services. There was a lot of burning petrol coming out. Id just put a full tank in 80 miles before so there was a lot of fuel to burn. Tried to put it out with the garages fire extingishers went through 6 before I gave up. Ive not moved that quick in ages.

Just glad id pulled over n didnt crash other wise I wouldent be here writing this now.

Thanks for all the positive comments from everyone

Really sorry to hear about this Niall,

Cant believe thats another \'7 off the road, and one of our rare NorthEast \'7s too.

Wanted to head up to F&M show with you too, but my car is still in several bits.  My little fire extinguisher probably wouldn\'t have even helped you either.  You really have to wonder what it does take to put out a car fire, seems like only the fire brigade can help, and they aint gonna get there in time.

Just glad your safe and well.  Keep the faith and use that insurance money wisely!  Hope fully see you in something else Mazda soon.

Chin up
Chris

Well cant be helped, I know there wasent anymore I could have done to try and stop it burning, hands are a bit swelled up today. Im def gonna get two fire extingishers in the car next time. Foam and a Powder one. Think that might have made a bit of a difference but who knows.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys its appreciated.

Dont surpose yours is for sale chris??? Did you see yourself on telly on thursday nite???

Guess it just depends on how bad the leak and wheher its oil or petrol, I have put 1 out on my car and 1 on anothers with a 1kg bottle. I guess the only way of standing a good chance is to fit a proper system.

Thats not a good thing to sit and watch!!! Luckaly I haven\'t had anything like that happen to me...... but I\'m going to buy an extinguisher ASAP!!!! Dont supose the carbon hood helped, actualy it probably hinderd the rescue atempt!!!

Once the resin catches it just keeps burining no mater what you throw at it!!! even if you put it out it does re-ignite!!!

Some advise on people running GRP & CF bonnets.......... you can get some flame resistant paint that you can paint on the under side of the bonnet...... any GRP user / supplyer should be able to get it for you!! Worth a look at trying to get some, even if it\'s just for piece of mind!!!

Hi Jono
Its going on the insurance, wouldent be worth me braking it there isnt a lot left . The inside is smoke and water damaged , begind the dash the wiring is all melted so there really isnt any point. Might be getting the wheels off it and putting my old ones back on before it goes and probably the spoiler but that will be it.

Thanks for the heads up Niall,

Think i\'ve maybe missed the cruisefest show, but they may repeat it.  I take it that its on ITV if its Tyne Tees / Border?

Any news from your insurers yet?  Fingers crossed for you.:)
