Post by: Gman on November 04, 2003, 08:47:28 PM

I hate the bloody things but sometimes are necessary, for a rd car why? not really needed, you bang ya head on it, and in a serious accident a cheap cage can be more dangerous than non. In the black car I have had a custom cage built, upto world class rally standards, but costs a fortune and now need to get a new head lining made to hide it.

Lets face it, its not hard to get it wrong and crash an FD. Have you seen the roof \'collapse\' a number of inches on an upside down FD when the windscreen gives up? Scary!!

Is your cage stamped G11ARY? Or rather more to the point, do you have to have a stamped cage for any thing other than serious motorsport? e.g. is a custom cage legal without authentication by some governing body?

Steve did a cool job on the black car either way, it looks the nutts and seriuosly strong. Best not to test it all the same though, hey mate? :D

No never have seen an upside down rx and hope never to, its not stamped and dont where you would go to get it approved, it was just made to be as tight to the body work giving max space inside the car and max strength and  to be as inconspicuos as poss, hence roll cage goes under head lining. Car would not be allowed to race unless I remove the tinted windows as well.
