Title: 8 pot brakes
Post by: LRP on July 12, 2006, 10:09:50 AM
hello all just got back from zante and hav recieved this msg from apex about the 8 pot brake kit
We have done a hell of a lot of testing of the big brake kits.  10 track days
and over £5500s worth of our own independent testing so far.  Ive negotiated a
cracking deal on DS2500s and I would strongly advise that you pay the extra and
go for them.  They should be an additional £170 rather than £74 but I will be
buying them in serious bulk to get the price right downa nd am subsiding them a
little to try to get people onto the Ferodos rather than the K-Sport pads purely
because the DS2500s are just soooooooo good.  And long lasting, they\'ll pay for
themselves time and time again.

We are offering the following deals on the kits based on sea freight:

330mm 8 pot kit with road type K-Sport pads £725
330mm 8 pot kit with DS2500 pads (very highly recommended) £799

Air freight will carry a £59 additional cost.

We are looking to place the order in the 10-14 days so if you want to get
involved please give us a shout asap :-)

Would love to be able to do this, but like you i\'m broke as well at the moment and to be honest i think 8 pot brakes would be a bit over kill for what i use my car for.
Maybe something to look in to in the future when i\'ve got some more power and get in to doing track days or something simular

That sounds incredibly cheap! I spent £1500 last year on a second hand skyline brake system for the zed. Does anyone know how good these are?

I have bought from Bren before when he had a cosworth and used to supply ford parts. I know he does 200sx parts now so did some fishing @ SXOC.xo.uk

heres what i found (this is the 200SX kit though the pics on car are fitted to a skyline)

Seems Bren fitted them to a track car and they have done a good few track days.

Couple of things ive noticed is that they are advertised as track use setup only ( not road use) and they do not have dust seals fitted.

This could be why they are advertised as track setup as the muck on our beautiful english roads would ruin the callipers requiring them to be rebuilt more frequently.

I would wait until someone has used them on an FD. Otherwise leave them for the saxo boys and girls.

Why would it. It\'s a quote from an email received from a company he (presumably) doesn\'t work for.

Would think 8 pots may give rise to a less than perfect brake pedal feel unless the master cylinders being changed for something else. I\'m sure these are what my matey was on about though. Don\'t think his car will be hitting the road any time soon to test them out though. I need some myself but lets face it, unless you\'re tracking it or going for looks .. there\'s no real rush.
