Title: turbo II box vs egi box
Post by: travellinbob on July 11, 2006, 01:33:48 PM
ok everyone, as far as I can figure out the flywheel I have(and clutch etc) is for usage with an egi gearbox. Now I think that the diameter of the flywheels from a turbo and an egi are different. The egi being slightly smaller. So with me having an egi box and wanting to keep mylovely lightened flywheel/uprated clutch combo can I swap the bellhousings from the egi onto the front of the turbo box????
 all answers/comments/ advice very welcom.
cheers and thanks for reading. michael.

Hi Michael,

No, the EFI box is the same as the first gen\'s which is an all in one gearbox/bellhousing. To use a Turbo box, but retain the smaller flywheel you need an RX-4 or RX-5 bellhousing.

Crazy alternative option ? Dissect and remove front end of 1st gen box then splice with the flange that bolts up to the box from the TurboII bellhousing and then get someone to Tig weld the two together with some gussets for strength ?

Hmmm, food for thought. But basically that would mean having to get a whole box to me on the rock. I was hoping to get away with only having to pay for postage on a bellhousing. if I have to get a whole different box then it will be an egi one.
 Cheers, michael.
