Title: gauges on ebay - any good ?
Post by: michaelb on July 09, 2006, 04:50:53 PM
Hi

I am thinking of buying this on ebay….is it any good and is it easy to fit ?
I have asked the seller if comes with the sensors for both gauges…

Has any one had similar fitted?  How did you do it or how much did that cost
to fit?

..Same here, defis cost so much…are you going to fit them your self or take to the vendors?  Do you know if they come with sensors?

Michaelb

Hi

I heard form one of the vendors on this side that the plate for the oil pressure was not a safe option, sometimes the oil may leak…

I would ask one of the experts here like reworks or dragon performance…

I guess all I am after is the water temp gauge…I will be getting APEXI at the end of summer so I will get the rest from the commander.

ive used plates for the Oil Pressure on my Integra and it gave me no probs...is it a rx7 specific thing you are referring to?
Like I said previous though, i dont trust anyone with my car....one of the vendors on here has already tried their bst to cockk it all up....i wont give any other the opportunity.

Water temp gauge should be nice and easy to fix depending on where your putting it....im just t-piecing mine into the top hose...i CBA to drill and tap the stat housing....ill change the stat as a precaution regularly...

Hi guys
I am using one of these plates on my fd for pressure and temp and all is fine, got mine from the bay and had no trouble at all.
My water temp sensor is inserted into the filler neck I did this by removing one of the allen head screws in the filler neck and putting my sensor in that hole. My boost gauge is attached to one of the nipples on the plenium (not sure about the spelling)

Finding a route to the cabin was the hardest part, I had to go through the passeger wing into the footwell.

Cheers

The PFC will show W Temp.  So If I were you, I\'d get something else, like Oil Pressure, Oil Temp.  :Thumbs-up

Hi

I know, but the pfc is something I will not have in the car visable at all times.
My RX is my daily car and that on display in London is asking for trouble.

1 or 2 gauges on display will not create any "unwanted visotors" and I would like to monitor the water temp at all times..

Michaelb

Mate, if I remember correctly your a big guy and most people would run a mile if you started to get upset!!!! (I know I would!!!)

I\'m going to remove the allen key to fit mine aswell. Yea it\'s to the right of where you fill the coolant (literaly alongside the filler) Normaly the sensor is the earth point for the gauge so the power should go to the gauge, then to the sensor to earth...

The only thing I would say is that the A piller pods tend to restrict your visability when your driving, & in London I\'d of thought you\'d want all the visability you can get????

Hi

How are you doing mate?  Are you going to JAE?

Yep, I do train a little….

I will be getting the pod which gets attached up side down to the frame of the drivers door.  That should not kill too much of visibility as it is right on the frame (I am only getting 2 gauges)

Do you think I will be able to drive the cables my self from the side of the door to the filler or do I have to take the car to reworks?

Where do you get the power from?

Regards,
Michaelb

I\'ve hooked up to a switched live from the ignition barrel to the gauge, then fed the wires from the gauge in to the engine bay through the same hole as the main wireing loom (sod to do but looks neater).

Mounted mine on the dash above the speaker grill in the center.
