Post by: aposegil on July 08, 2006, 05:00:42 PM
Hello all

just finish buying well should say swoping my corrado for a RX7

ve always wanted one and now I have lol but it has only two probs form what i can tell

One is that there has to be a lose wire somewhere as the rev counter works one min and doesnt the next depending if u go over bumps etc :( anyone know what it could be or give me pointers where to start looking?

also car not been used for a while but since starting it not droping rpm :( starts about 2000-1700 rpm and then drops to 1700-1500 which ive been told still to high :(

can anyone shed some light?

thank you in advance

rev counter common fault get a new one/2nd hand working one mine used to jump 3-5000rpm reading but no change in engine speed..high idle vac pipe off or gasket leak or sticking cable or idle control valve

one of the vendors will have second hand rev counter..high idle wont hurt it but will hurt ur pocket and u will get strange looks..try a search for idle valve it will be up near the throttle body somewhere

thanx again mate

well looks like its the idle valve stuck open :(

when u unplug it nothing hapens at all :(

as i did alot of searching through forum last night and the idle screw all the way in and everything else seems to be fine

its either that or gasket but its never lumpy so my fingers point to idle valve

aswell if uve seen one its for white plastic part that moves guessing thats what controls the air flow

well its very lose can be moved 3-4mm back easily then, it like as if what ever inside to control it stuck there wont go past that point :( where it looks like it can go a lot more

unpluged the air pump as mine been decat and that made huge diference now sits about 1500 solid so no more close to 2000 rpm

and ive started to look for rev counter :)
