Title: ABS warning light
Post by: Mave on July 07, 2006, 08:37:57 PM
Luckily just after my MoT, my ABS light has decided to come on. I haven\'t had chance to look at it, but thought I might post in case someone has had the same problem. Light isn\'t on when starting the engine, but as soon as you start driving it comes on. I\'m guessing that this indicates that there is a problem with a sensor rather than the control unit; does this sound right?

Cheers, :)

Sounds very likely its a speed sensor, either use a multimeter on each one to measure resistance or i think you\'ll be able to use the blink code diagnostic method. Not sure about mazda sensors but a reading of 800 to 1200 ohms is what we normally look for on commercial speed sensors.

Thanks Kevin, I\'ll take a look with my meter, if I don\'t have any joy I\'ll be back to ask what a blink code is! :)

Hi Mave,

Check the ABS gubbins on the passenger side of the engine bay. My ABS light has come one twice before on starting the engine (accompianied by a weird whirring/buzzing noise) - giving the black plastic box next to the main ABS kit a sharp tap sorted it out, I think there\'s a solenoid that can stick.

Cheers,
Alex
