Does anyone know what the lap record is for a FD3S at the nurburgring?
Trying to settle a work arguement that the M3 CSL is better than the RX7
Cheers

standard for standard i think you\'d struggle to win that arguement to be honest, those CSL\'s are awesome cars!
i know Phil G is quick but then his car is heavily modified with twice the stock HP, A stock CSL would be very quick i would imagine, they were when i was there last week.
True standard for standard M3 CSL
Both modified dont know, Phil G has been round there in 7 mins 50 something seconds
We\'re talking std v\'s modified because for the price of a M3 CSL you could have a very modified RX. (even at 1/2 the money)
Ant and Gary are right Phil G with that time holds the record for a modified FD 7min 50secs.
M3s are bulit as ringmeisters straight out the factory awesome bit of standard kit but yes your right expensive to buy brand new
Yeap no doubting that the M3 CSL is a nice car but not sure I\'d spend my money on one.
That\'s a great time; :2eek
Phil G = Ace driver me thinks :)
Thanks guys...
A bone stock 380bhp M3 CSL fitted with sports tyres and a talented pilot did the \'Ring\' in 7:50 dead according to various BMW sites.
Didn\'t think they are 380bhp stock?????
I had a play with one coming down the M11 last week. He became quite irate that he couldn\'t get the slippery banana out of his rear view mirror. He even did (edit - quite a lot, but not THAT much ) odd round the corner where the m11 goes onto the m25 west.

He even did 150 odd round the corner where the m11 goes onto the m25 west. Obviously I stayed below 70mph at all times but due to the slippery banana being so yellow and slippery it didn\'t get left behind :)
Well, if the old Bill had stopped you, could have just complained that you\'d got sucked along in his slipstream....Nothing you could do about it...:chat

:Nono! :3Confused :xconfused  :Nono!
Like I said I stayed below 70mph :)
Is that time of 7:50 BTG or full lap???
The CSL has a time of 7:32 Full lap, and you can knock off 20 seconds for getting between the 2...although that depends on gearing!

i know that junction well. I dont think 150 mph is feasible.
Hmm just thinking about it myself, maybe that was a bit over the top, don\'t mean to be telling stories. He wasn\'t hanging around anyhow. I\'ll edit it and get my taxi.
edit - There you go, not making a fool of myself now :)

Trouble is, at those kind of speeds and on a bend you haven\'t got much chance of viewing the speedo anyway.
There\'s an interesting post on another forum in relation to lap times putting the M3 CSL at 7:50 - circa Phil G time. I believe it\'s the Porsche Carrera GT which holds the 7m32s time.

7.50 mins is an amazing time, last I heard the Ferrari Enzo laps the Ring in that sort of time.
I\'m only quoting what I heard on the TV tho.
I went round in 6mins 59 secs ....................... wait a min you said round the block right ???? :rollin :rollin :rollin
Awesome time by Phil :god
slightly off topic but do any of the members here go the nurberg much?
Many do Ian, if you look in the events bit or do a search for Nurburgring there\'s plenty of threads from when peeps have been. Dave
i think we should have an MRC Nurburg trip!
When i was there, the MX5 club all had an outing there, not sure what country they were from but there was about 25 of them!
I used to go there 7 times a year :D

There\'s a few of us off next Friday (21st) if anyone fancies coming. Me, Max, Rich and Chris (possibly a few others). Accomodation was a bit of a push though as it\'s the same weekend as the truck GP, ended up being about 30k away. Nice drive in the morning to warm the girl up though!
There\'ll no doubt be another trip later this year, weekend of 19th/20th August looks a good one, last full summer weekend opening, next is November after that!!!
