Title: nice surprise - ported engine!
Post by: vxer on July 06, 2006, 10:51:22 PM
Hi there,

I was just reading the receipt for the WGT autos engine rebuild my car had done by a previous owner, when i noticed \'porting\' as one of the items on the receipt!

Whoopie! :) :burnout

Anyone know what kind its likely to be? Just says \'porting    - £200\'....

Cheers, Paul.

Ring Pip and ask him on 01606 48866, but most likely to be mild street port for £200 :Thumbs-up

How lumpy does it run on idle? If it is smooth on idle it is likely to be, as Gurj says, a mild(ish) streetport

if you are happy with the performance of your car then you are better off with it not being ported as it means that there is more performance potential to be had................ surely

What\'s this mythical "happy with the perfromance" thing?  I\'ve heard it can be had in brief periods of a few days/weeks before you need more horses...

Yeah its pretty smooth on idle, so i\'m guessing its a street port of some kind...

I would definately have noticed if it \'brapped\'! :)

Chuffed to bits! :Party

Cheers, Paul.

i see what you mean, i didnt realise you hadnt had it mapped.

When i ran on the strip at RS3, i set the boost controller to high boost which should be 1.2 bar, did the run and was really happy with the time,  checked the apexi commander to find out i was only running 1 bar.  Which meant there was more to come.     hopefully!

I\'m more than happy with mine,  i only ever drive it low boost...... i am actually looking for something with less power!
