Title: car missfire when full throttle
Post by: TD06_FD on July 06, 2006, 02:20:57 PM
My car is FD runing single turbo.

Been driving 90-100mph for few minutes, suddently the car missfiring and poping from the exhaust when full throttle and wouldn\'t pass 2000 rpm, when light throttle it will go upto 4000 rpm the engine then missfiring and poping .  The engine seem fine start everytime and compression checked around 7.  Changed the spark plugs still no help.

My mechanic friend think is the control unit that control firing order or ignitior or resistor but he has no knowledge about RX7 is that such as thing on RX7?

Any suggestion??
thanks in advance.

you say it starts fine? does it idle ok??? if it doesn\'t try the vac pipe to the boost sensor on the bulkhead!

thanks mx1311:
I cleaned the boost sensor with electric cleaner, reset the ECU also.  Is VAC pipe= vacum pipe? I check also can\'t see any loose pipe.

is there still a vacume pipe on your FPR (fuel Pressure Regulator)?,  if not the fuel pressure will not rise with boost and can cause the same proplem,  its sounds like limp mode which i though you only get with a stock ECU, i assume as you have a single turbo you have and Apexi or similar.

I checked the TPS throttle body sensor voltage, its out of the range measures 3.5V service manual shown 4.2v-4.5v, will buy one from dealer and try again hope they not too expensive.

I had this a couple of weeks ago.

first thing to check is that youve got plenty of bonding on the engine.

then remove the neg terminal on the battery and give it a good clean with some sand paper.

try that

red light flashing is high knock levels.

be carefull knock can be bad!!!

dont worry too much about the knock level unless you are on boost.

I think some sensor faulty, in the sensor check menu
VMOP and HWL (top right) flashing not drive the car yet in case if I\'ll damage the engine.

What sensor are they?

vmop  is metering oil pump will put stock ecu into limp home mode will put hwl (heat warning light) on pfc.

run premix till you get new metering oil pump fitted.

Thanks Geff, any idea how much to repair metering oil pump? If its possible disable/remove it then run premix instead, I heard 500ml 2 stroke oil in every full tank is that right?

That would be about right - 1/2 a litre of 2 stroke to 50 litres of fuel. Bare in mind tho that 2 stroke isnt that cheap - another £5 to a tank of gas at say Shell :2Rolleyes

Take it mop off and fabricate blanking plate leaves hwl on all the time. haven\'t looked into how to fool pfc that vmop is still working  yet

premix as you said:)

I bought a use 99 spec MOP and had the car fully re-mapped, run sweet use less fuel now and no more rough idle.

mop? not the type what you clean the floor with...dont quite fit? :Hammer

i\'m sure mine is severely overfueling and putting out the spark  but i am sure its something simple, but all symptoms are intermittant, they are always there but vary?

i might try earths terminals leads etc but i cant understand why its overfueling. its running a stock ecu i think but with a greddy profec E-01 wired into it?!? Hks super dragger + re-amemiya intake.

tried so many things but still lost. had a thought whilst staring at it - i have a hks super blow off valve/trumpet! and also standard ones? ie the one above the turbos under the upper intake pipe and next to the brake cylinder?

could it be?...

can i be daft and asks what it does ?

From what your sayign about running 2 stroke it sounds like it puts oil in the combustion process is this right ?

Yep. Sure does, On a Boinger the Bores are oiled but the crank throwing oil about or oil jets spraying oil onto the bottom of the Piston, a Rotary can\'t do any of this becouse if the way the engine is designed, so the OMP drops oil into the Bore where the apex seal scrapes it up and hey presto you have oil in and around the Apex seal grooves.

The car just ither does\'nt run or runs like a Dog if you have a dodgy OMP. Plus it will not do your Housings/Apex\'s any favors.

If you for one second think you have an OMP fault stick 2 stroke oil in the fuel.
