Title: Underdrive pulleys
Post by: DarranJones on July 05, 2006, 04:43:37 PM
What are underdrive pulleys for? Are they the ones used to get rid of the airpump?

Cheers,

Darran.

I\'ve asked this question a couple of time to different people as i\'d like to get rid of mine now, and i\'ve got different answers.
I\'m sure someone will be able to set the record straight :D

you can do mate, Clive has said you can where as Ross says that he wont fit just a shorter belt because it rubs on the water pump i think. but Darran asked what the underdrive pulleys are for. I used the pulleys, think they look good if anythink:rolleyes:

So, how many pulleys should be in an underdrive kit if it removes the airpump? 2 or 3?

Bit of a dorky question I know.

Theres usually two in the kit. Its more to improve the surface contact between the water pump and the belt. It does underdriver the alternator and waterpump as well so a few ponies are extracted.

I\'ve just sold a set to blitzboy after removing my mechanical pump and going over to an electrical one !
