Hi, still searching for a late (99-03) RX-7. Still not having much luck, as they are obviously few and far between. Looking for manual, as standard as poss. Any colour except white. (nothing wrong with white, just not my favourite RX colour) Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers, Ken. P.S. Kron, is your mate fed up with his red RX yet:cheers :cheers
white is the fastest colour though??
Might be worth speaking to one of the import companys. They would be the best people to source one from.
Fish
Thanks Fish, i have tried that route, unfortunately due to rules and regs nothing can be imported at the moment newer than 97. Had my heart set on a spirit r, but thats not going to happen yet, so until then it has to be UK sourced. Phoned TW Whites to see if any of their customers cars were coming up for sale, (cos up to about 2003 they still had brand new imported RX,s for sale) but they were about as much help as a chocolate lampshade!!!
There is one on ebay atm, I check there everday among many other places, still looking for my first Rex :)
Anyway here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-RX7-Type-RB-S-1999-FD-Facelift-very-rare-RX-7_W0QQitemZ4652853825QQihZ002QQcategoryZ18211QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is the link.
Thanks Stimp, yes she looks nice, but the mileage is just a bit too high, but i have got my eye on it. Thanks
What happened to Steve Morrisons blue one that was up for sale a few weeks ago? Sounded pretty good! Love that blue, as well!
Price too high at the moment
Mmm, i wonder what the reserve price is??
I\'d guess....12 grand?
There is an 02 black spirit R somwhere for sale. Asking price is £25k iirc. Some one posted it up, do a search.
If I hadn\'t just bought one, I\'d be buying this one

Edit: doh didn\'t realise that\'s the one referred to above!
Guess you have an idea on the reserve now!
Thanks for reply Pete, thats just about what iam looking to pay for it, but its been turned down. I,ve got my eye on four ranging 99 to 01, funnily enough all blue, all similar money. The worrying thing for RX owners is they are all still for sale after 2-3wks, which is why iam reluctant to pay top price. There doesnt seem to be a market for these any more, EXCEPT ME!!! Cheers, Ken
Thanks Mims, Yes i know the car you mean, and i was very interested. Unfortunately it was very overpriced for a repaired car. If the price was sensible i would still be interested. Cheers, Ken
Ken,
This very matter has been one of the topics of conversation recently on the forum!
They can go very cheap, BUT, usually if the seller has loved his FD and knows its whole state, they\'ll want a fair price, as they know the car deserves such.
Try and get more info off us owners re what to look out for when seeing the FD\'s
Take your time!:Giggle
Pete
Cheers Pete, much appreciated, i will. Ken
I was speaking to an importer today and he was saying that it\'s near impossible to get a fresh import younger than 97 (if i remember correctly) The dopes at VOSA won\'t pass them due to loads of factors: emissions, Crash tests, etc.!! and also the prices have gone up a fair bit due to russia joining in on the imports which has bumped the price up, hence having a knock on affect raising the prices of vehicles already imported!!! (same story for skylines, pajero\'s etc.)
So there are going to be slim pickings on an FD in the age bracket you are looking!!

Bit of a highjack, I was just wondering how many ppl on here have post 97 cars.
Mines late 98 and it sounds like I should keep it for a while longer [not that I\'m considering selling it anyway]

I thought there was a poll on here about this, but can\'t find it, maybe I was thinking about something else. Would be interesting to see - maybe poll the board on the 1st digit of the chassis number (eg FD3S3 or 4 or 5 or 6 (was there a 1 or 2??)) and see what the distribution is. Registration year is reasonably accurate, but can sometimes be misleading - I remember when looking for our current FD, we saw a new import which had been registered as a 52 plate, but the chassis number was FD3S5 - dating it to 99/00. Just a thought anyway.....

It was a accident damaged car and they are askin 25k?! wow. lol
Just a bit of advice, if you get a car after 1995 onwards, you will need to keep it as standard as possible. MOT rules have RECENTLY CHANGED regarding later RX7\'s and they get the same treatment as everything else. Its not easy to get a modded 94 car though, let alone a later one where they have to have a full cat test.

not sure if the 5th digit refers to Series or not, but the official RX7 series line up is:
Gen1 78-85 S1(SA22), S2 & S3(FB3S)
Gen2 85-92 S4 & S4 (FC3S)
Gen3 92-02 S6, S7 & S8 (FD3S) post 99 cars were Series 8 I believe
