Title: Engine Specs
Post by: CRC83 on June 25, 2006, 01:13:18 PM
Hi all

I am looking for some help and advise really, as I\'m not to clued up on RX-7 engines.

Would someone please post up the spec of ttheir engine (or any in fact) that is around the 500BHP mark so as I can get an idea of what serious tunning of these engines requires.

Thanks

Chris

P.S I have used the search function but havent turned up any thing.

What have you done with your old 35/40 turbo?

i have that in use, im just saying if i wanted over 500 at 1bar then i would choose the GT35r. The second list is what i would do if i was building a single turbo from scratch.

The GT35r is expensive though. The turbo i have was bought in a single turbo kit for the FD at around $1200 i think from //www.cheapturbos.com. Its small size is very good for road use though, not much lag at all

No that is a real nice sounding setup. One thing I don\'t get with these engines is why the have different rated injectors? Sorry proberly really stupid question, :)

Air pump removed? I take you mean the aircon?

Also do these engine come with a viscos fan like skylines, spuras and 300zx\'s or do the use electric?

These cars have an air pump,  it\'s used to look after the cat and dilute emissions by adding air into the exhaust system.  It is driven off the engine and not needed if no cats are being used.

im not fully clued up on fuelling on the rex but heres what i can gather. The primaries are firing all the time, as there are 2 rotors there are 2 injectors. Then after about 4K revs the secondaries come in. This must be a fuel economy thing. Ive not heard any more on the fuelling but id have thought it would be boost related too.

4x 850CC injectors + GReddy elbow, with additional 680cc injectors in holders.

This has confused me as well. As I look at it there are four injector ports on the block, 2 in each chamber, so I\'m don\'t get what the extra 680cc injectors are doing?

Also the second injector have anything to do with the fact these engines are twin turbo as standard and the second turbo kicks in on a sequential system, there for when you do a single turbo conversion you no longer need injectors at different rates because there is no secondary kick, just constantly increasing boost?

Sorry to bombard you guys with questions,  am doing my own research on the net, just not turning up much useful info else where.

Thanks

Chris

I see that Richard has an ignition amplifier, I assume the standard setup can\'t cope with the extra demand?

Part 1 done!!!

We\'ve now got a GT 35/40 :D

The porting has started on the engine so hopefully we should have a brand new engine by the end of the week!!!!
