since getting the car started after flooding it was running fine till it cut out as this happend i was sitting watching the pfc comander and the water temp started droping from 74 all the way to -16, found this strange because when it was flooded i remember the water temp always counting down to -36 when trying to start it something not right there anyone experianced this before think it may be a duff sensor but dont know where to look,

My mate had the same problem with his FD and it turned out to be that the water temps sensor was not connected or was loose so check that.

Its behind the filler neck you may be able to put finger through to press it back in position... i

checked the temp sendor plug and it all looks ok, just had the car out today for a few hours then temp started droping car missfires badly backfireing until it cuts out temp settled at -2 played with the wire but still same temp, after ingnition on off a few times temp was back up and it started got it home and it cuts out in the garage as the temp starts droping again, starting to think it needs scraped,:(

QuoteIts behind the filler neck

I may be wrong, but i believe the temp sender for the coolant is actually the one near the oil pressure sensor near the oil filter. The one on the back of the water pump housing is i believe the thermoswitch for the fans.

Cheers
al get a look at that after my coffee, hope its obvious that its busted or loose cause a dont like taken the car out in case a cant get it home,
do you think the pfc has something built in to stop it from running if the temps too low?
has to be something to do with the sensor a think,

thanks anyway al keep update\'n

Unlikely, but what it might try and do is put more fuel in, it\'s difficult to tell. But it\'s likely that the ECU is doing something that makes it stall because it thinks the temp has got low.

It\'ll stall because the Apexi will dump a load of fuel in because it thinks the engine is cold. Sort the sensor / wiring and it\'ll be happy days again.

As long as you can get to it, it should be easy to change.

Any of the vendors should be able to help. I personnally use Shy, because Clive is just very easy to talk to and very helpful.

I think im having a similar problem, did you get it fixed?

I am just waiting for a new thermoswitch that is part of the automatic tranmission becuase that seems to be broken, fixing that might make the problem go away for me!

Am i right in thinking that the temp sender down side near oil pressure sender (shown in pic above)is for the dash temp gauge only. The ecu gets its temp signal from the single black wire sender behind thermstat housing, beneath sender(thermoswitch) for fans???????????

There are two sensors behind the stat housing Gary, the one with the single wire nearest the alternator is the Thermoswitch and that has a single wire that goes direct to the fans relay ( no3 i think,) i think the the other sensor under air pump back of stat housing may go to ecu.

If i was you i\'d be checking all of them. If your not sure about the Two on the Pump housing Temp sensers usaly only have one wire going to them, th Fan senser has two (if you conect them together the fan should come on :))
