Title: Basic servicing questions, re: spark plugs
Post by: Ian@TunerUK on June 22, 2006, 08:43:13 AM
brought my new RX7 last week and want to change all the oils and spark plugs, now i\'ll be getting oils via opie so will wait for their recommendations with regards to that, but i want to know what spark plugs are going to be best for my car? looking through the Opie site they sell Denso, are any of their range ok or would i better off looking elsewhere?

thanks in advance
Ian

I am about to do the good ol service next week.  Have all the fluids, and was gonna try and do a step by step write up that even I could follow.

Most people on here use the NGK\'s which are something like BUR9EQP IIRC.

Most of the vendors here seem to sell them at a good price (don\'t get them thru Mazda because they just charge too much for them)

There is a thread here entitled "The reasons synthetic oil is better"

There are loads of threads which usually end up as a debate (for good reason) just try searching for "which oil" and you should have a "few" results :D

If your changing the spark plugs its easiest to jack up the front passenger side put axel stands in place and remove wheel as it\'ll give you more room to manouvre.

Depends what mods you are running as at what plugs you need. Mine has mild mods and I run NGK platinum 9\'s all round with no problems.

Ricco, that write up would be an excellent idea! I\'m trying to get through to Sept without damaging the engine and doing as little maint as possible ;)

Rich did you sell your car?

Hi Paul,

TBH other than list it on here I haven\'t actively done anything towards selling it so I think I\'ll hold onto her for a while yet and re-asses the house buying situation  :)

BTW are you going to Thoresby Park a week on Sunday ?

Rich
