Title: TII popping at idle?
Post by: Sarah on June 21, 2006, 06:54:27 AM
Hi Nik here.

Sarahs TII seems to have developed a pop at idle, almost like a mini back fire,  but it runs as smooth as you like when driving normally. I have replaced the plugs with exactly the same ones that were in it and I have cleaned the BAC valve but I can\'t seem to get it to stop. It does it both cold and warm. It didn\'t use to do it.

Another thing is, is there any way of combatting the heat soak problem?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Nik

Sounds like you have air getting into the exhaust after the reactor. (Presuming its running stock system still?)  Might be worth looking for a split on the exhaust.

Best way around the heatsoak issue is some kind of direct cooling for the IC, eother by a spray bar or possibly water injection...unless you go FMIC.

 Hope this helps :)

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me too :)

Has it still got the air pump on?

Because mine had been de catted and the air pump had been taken off and it made it pop on idle

When i put the air pump back on for the MOT it ran fine

thanks for the respones guys. There was a leak at the top of the down pipe but I thought I had sorted that. (bolts were loose but I tightened them up) Maybe it is still leaking. It is not the standard system, it is full stainless system and decatted.

Would it need remapping? although it didn\'t do it before the exhaust leak occured.

Cheers
