after a bit of advice , very shortly im having a v-mount fitted and it requires the relocation of the battery! im going to be moving it to the boot up against the back of the back seat rest, what i want to know is what gauge cable should i use shounld it be fused if so what size, were should i route the cable and did you run the earth back to the front or earth to the body??? cheers
I connected the nag to the body of the car.
Ran the positive down the interior passenger side of the car and through the bulkhead (There\'s a handy little rubber grommit to pass it through - you\'ll need to put a hole in it though!)
and i don\'t run a fuse - I know that\'s against some poeple\'s advice, but there\'s already a main fuse in the engine bay anyhow!
hello nic what gauge cable did you use???
I went to Brights on Filton Avenue - they have specific battery cable so i just used that. I did a rubbish job of soldering it though, so i do occasionally get a drop in voltage! :o
I\'ve got the battery in the boot and am going to be fitting fuses to both + and - sides. The main reason to fit them is any failure of the +ive cable on it\'s run down to the engine bay (i.e. short to body) will bypass the main fuse.
Assuming you run a short cable on the -ive to the cars body (e.g. suspension mount points) you\'d have a lenght of the +ive carrying huge current and significant risk of fire. You probably only need to run a fuse on the -ive side though but both is \'belt and braces\'.
Here\'s my relocation.

Just a thought for you.Keep your boot space nice n tidy.See if you can fit a red top under the passenger seat.
Pete, How do you find the half size batterys? I was thinking of putting on in my Rear bin (one would fit realy nice in there :)) but i did a bit of reading up on people using them and most say they don\'t like being stood for a week or so? (tend to go flat quick)
Do you have any problems like this? Or would you say you get what you pay for? (buy a good battery and it will last longer??)

Hi
Had no problems at all! Left the car standing for atleast a week with the alarm on,and she started first turn. Probably not great if your running huge ice,but seems to work really well.
Cheers

I\'ve got the Red Top 30 jobbie and no problems yet. I\'ve heard rumors that winter is not their favourite time though.
I\'ve got a portable booster battery at home though and I\'ll be taking it away with me for any trips at that time of year.
im gunna be doin this soon, im gunna use a switched isolator mounted in the engine bay and run fused cables straight from there, then i can isolate the battery at the turn of a knob and it will be dead easy to install...

I\'ll be putting mine in one of the rear bins when the engine comes out :)
You have an engine in a rear bin? :eek lol

I should be ok with the battery in the car and shes garaged anyway.Got one of those boosters just in case.I suppose time will tell.
I\'ve just got myself one of these to keep the battery in check- CTEKâ,,¢ MULTI XS 3600 Charger & Conditioner, see link below-

Comes with and easy connector to leave on the battery, makes pluging the charger in a peice of cake!

moving my battery this weekend just went to BAE to get a price they only sell in real of 10 mtrs £55 holy s%^t or is that normal price??
No! When i got my battery cable from brights, i paid £5 per metre, and got 3 metres: £15. I recommend Brights on Filton Avenue.
ill try and get there cheers nic
I\'d recommend a little more than 3 metres though. Go for 3 and a half, or 4. Better to have a little too much than not enough.
