Title: What front mount have you got an were u get it from ?
Post by: CraigN on June 19, 2006, 06:12:08 PM
On saturday i saw 57 degree ATC\'s using my SMIC

so i fancy a FMIC

I would really like one that allows me to retain my current battery and its location and also leave my radiator in its current (or as near to as possible) Position, by that i mean not vertical.

is there such a FMIC out there ?

cheers

Craig

They call it a V-mount ;)

You\'ll just need to move the battery though. But it\'ll be worth it.

Go on you know you want too............. Just think how cold your Motor will run :)

If you insist in fitting a FMIC and keeping the stock rad position you may want to look at the Big SMIC\'s, but make sure you get the Duct!! it make quite a diffrence.

Inmo I think the Greddy SMIC you have there is fine, just get water injection. I have the same setup as you and find winter is fine its just for the summer months. Must admit I plumbed mine in and was about to try it but had a heater matrix problem but have no doubt it will bring the intake temps down to a sensible level. Lot of users of it on here.

V-Mount kits soak up heat when in traffic and you need a vented bonnet to get the best performance.

Just my 2 pence worth, will probably get flamed.

Yeh they do tend to heat soak, BUT!!! the SMIC does\'nt get enough air flow (Hence the Duct) and the FMIC tends to block air flow to the rad!! so IMHO i would say the best set up would have to be the V-Mount becouse its the only one that has a problem when its stoped and works realy well when moving :) rather than having air flow problems when its moving.

Craig, Why don\'t you rig up some sort of Ducting? also as Gmogle says whater Injection is real good.

craig i think that you should be fine with that greddy smic mate, as its the same one i have and im running a single turbo at 1.2bar, have only seen it above 40 a couple of times, usually sits around 30 ish. And i thought that trev was running water injection? every front mount and v mount intercooler requires moving the battery, thats why i sold my front mount on.

im not keen on water injection. if you have a good enought intercooler there should be no nees for it.
Il have a look at my options ive seen a few ppl with smaller batteries that seem to do the job.

as far as i can see there is no water injection on the car, lol i couold be wrong ive not taken it apart enough really yet :P
