Looking for some advice Brake Guru\'s.
Few months back I bought a set of Black Diamond Front Discs (Grooved) and Hawk Pads Front and rear. Front are HB158F.515 and rears are HB155M.580
Replaced discs and pads and bedded in according to instructions and I was very impressed with the performance.
Went to MRC Brands Hatch track day and again was very impressed with the braking performance.
Towards the end of the session I noticed some fairly loud sqealing coming from the front discs, and seemed to be suffering a bit of fade, so I got back into the pits to let things cool down. After 20 mins and some warm down laps went back out and after about 10 mins brakes were sqealing again, but as the session was over I did a few cool down laps again.
Drove home and although they were still biting they didnt quite seem the same.
After Brands Hatch the brakes performance seemed back to normal however the sqeal from the discs at low speeds was like nothing I\'d ever heard and sounded like metal on metal. I spoke to a few people for advice and the general consensus was that I must have glazed the pads and that I needed to take the top of the pads off and bed them in again.
Got me some emery cloth and following some instructions took a few mm off the pads to rough them up again.
Took the car out and started to brake the pads in.
Now for a few days everything was fine, good bite and only slight sqealing when discs were cold but this had happened before Brands anyway and I expected it from a pad that needs to warm up a little.
The Bad news is this only seemed to have lasted a week or so and now I\'m getting the same ear piercing sqealing I was before.
Now I\'m not sure whether to get the pads out again and take a bit more off them, or if these Hawk Pads are naturally that bad at low temps and I\'d be better off with something else. I dont mind a bit of squeal but this is too much for me and my neighbours !
Thanks for any advice.....
Oh by the way I plan on taking the car on more track days so a pad suited to fast road and occasional days on the track is what I\'m looking for.
