Title: Loud whistling second turbo?
Post by: probedb on June 17, 2006, 11:11:02 AM
Hi all,

Does anyone know why my second turbo might make a loud whistling noise when it spools up?

Even when it\'s spooling initially there\'s a quiet whistling, but once I put my foot to the floor it\'s rather loud.

I\'m sure it\'s not meant to do that? Any thoughts on what could be causing it other than that it\'s screwed?

Ta :)

Paul.

Boost leak, is a poss. Check all fixture\'s. I had something similar turned out to be where i had not refitted the piping to the induction kit properly and was sucking air in through a small gap i had left. Just refitted peopley and bob\'s ya uncle.

Check all of your intercooler pipes for splits as this is the most likely cause.

If everything seems O/K undo the clips and turn them slightly and then do them up again as I have cured "whistles" this way before.

Thanks you two :) It\'s only the second turbo so I\'ll try everything relating to the rear turbo.....got to change the oil so I\'ll see what I can get to. If not it\'ll just have to wait till the engine comes out.

Guessing this would also account for dodgy boost from when the second turbo kicks in?
