wicked....so mildly higher compresion rotors? What sort of horsepower can you make reliably out of them? (i dont need to meet emissions regulations)

mine has 380 at the rear wheels  (460 fwwp),  with the series 4 rotors.   I will let you know about relaibilty next week as i\'m driving to the ring.

Dubber, you can make near 300 with the stock engine and turbo. (Depends on cooling etc and fueling)  Is this going in the beetle?

you could see 300 with an ECU,  fueling, charge cooling and a turbo with milds engine ports. There is some speculation on whether you can make 300 on the stock turbo.  I think if you had a ported engine with the stock turbo you would see 300 ATW\'s. Or stock engine and a good turbo.  Do both and you should see 380....

yep,  23rd,   cant wait.    Just got my eurpean sat nav sorted out in case i cant keep up with T2REW.

Cars not ready yet as i still have to fit my big brakes,  nothing like cutting it fine!!!

8.30 eurostar if i remember correctly.

Brett,

do you reckon you would see 300 at the wheels or flywheel with stock turbo and engine?,  i think you would struggle with 300 fwhp on stock turbo and engine.

I reckon you could get near 300fwhp with the stock tubby and engine, but I recon it would need water injection and a good map.  Probably talking 1-1.1 bar boost too.
I was making near 280fw on the 1st dyno run, sadly we didnt get a print out until the 5th dyno run, by which time heat soak had knocked the power down to 250fw and 196rw.
Going on that evidence, with the fueling and the cooling I think 300 is posible at the fly, so maybe 250 atw?

wicked...well the engine is due a rebuild anyways, so i might as well give it a decent sized port (Its a weekend car at best now)
What ports would you recommend? Bridge? As its in a bug im guessing low down torque isnt that essential...

Sorry to hijack, but was that with any fuelling mods / increase in boost ?

Cheers,

Hi Prof,

That was with the following mods/spec

New engine with less than 5000miles on the block
3" Bore exhaust from the turbo back, going into a 4" box
 Knightsports FCD
 K&N Panel
 Blitz BOV

Boost was all over the place like that (0.6 max in 1st, 0.7 in 2nd and 3rd, 1.0 in 4th, 1.2!!! in 5th)  so after the dyno run I started looking around for an ECU, managed to get hold of a Panspeed sport tuned JDM ecu, tuned for exhaust and filter.  That smoothed the boost out a little and brought it in much harder. (0.8 in 1st, 0.8 in 2nd, 0.8 in 3rd, 0.95 in 4th, 1.0 in 5th)
Panspeed rom combined with that exhaust totally transformed the car, with so much boost available in the first few gears it brought the 0-60 a hell of a lot :D  Had the probe up the exhaust a few times and leaning didnt seem to be an issue excpet in 5th on full boost it was starting to head for 1.0, whereas in most other gears it was around 1.1.
You need to speak to Retrobate as he has it now, but I cant state enough the difference it makes.  Made it quick enough to see off a 92FD with a Cat back, many, many times.  (Local lad, friend of mine and slightly disgruntled now)

Hope that helps,  also, if you do a search for threads in this section started by me, looking around April time last year you can follow the build etc.

 :wave

When are you going to do the new build then Dubber?

Yep - I had overboost issues as well, and that\'s without an FCD.  Jap tuned ECU did the business for me too (also has FCD built in).  Leads me to believe that with a pair 0f 800cc injectors for secondaries, and a boost controller, I should be pretty much there.  Water Injection going on to keep it all cool.

Engine now running for 21 months, 19000 miles and still pulls like a loco.  :bandit  :3gears-lh

Will compression test before any goodies go on.

So not tempted you yet Dubber ? :Thumbs-up  :driving

haha!

well ive found a doner car.......which i will probably break. Body is a bit beaten up and its missing some glass.

Engine doesnt run but i figured i\'d be rebuilding asnyway and for the price im gettin for breaking the car, it would basically come as free....

Its been rebuilt before, is it normally OK to rebuild a second time?

and a third, fourth - etc..

Just replace all the seals (rubber and metal ones), and housings and rotors should they need it.  Also good idea to replace hoses, as they can get knackered during engine changes !!  :Hammer  :Hammer

I take it you mean my van!? unfortunately not im afraid! Not unless you want to fly over here and get the keys off me!! If youd told me earlier id have left you the keys to the van and shown you how to operate it all (it requires a certain knack to get the hydarluic ram to work properly...loose connection)....alas its all irrelevant as i cant! I can help you when i get back but thats still 10 days at the minimum!

On a side note...small world it is....i met another guy from mrc on the plane to florida|! he was sitting right next to me!!!

actually steve, dyou reckon you could do me a favour...ive tried email bvut dyou reckon you could bell tim at rxmotors and find out how much he charges for a rebuild kit consisting of all seals, springs and gaskets, o-rings (internal and engine install gasket) kits? And email me the response at my uni email? j.mistry@herts.ac.uk
Just trying to weigh up whether its cheaper to buy bits from here and also the trade off as a lot of the bits are not standard mazda items like the o-rings are made from different stuff and the apex seals are diff etc!
Nice one!! Cheers
