It will help you with which model has what spec.
If you look at it as the R,R1,R2 is basicly the Sports version, it has Harder suspension,Twin oil coolers,No Sunroof,No Cruise Control,Cloth seats Etc stuff to make it Lighter and up for more abuse :)
The RS/RSR/RZ/Spirit is the Limited run Cars that have lots of Goodies but unless you are ether have a good Budget or are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time
Then you have the RB\'s that are easy to tell as they are usaly spec\'d up (Leather,Sunroof, softer Suspension and stuff like that) you\'ll find a good 70% of these are Auto but there are plently of Manuals about, They are slightly heavier and slower so people tend to go for the R\'s.
Then there is the UK car which has it all!!! This is basicly an R2 (2 seater with rear bins) with all the options fitted, they where 30k when new and are the one to get if you can find one for saine money but i warn you there rare (i belive under 60 left). You can spot them a mile off by the rear Bumper and the Ft number plate carrier (its for Uk shape plates not the square jap style)
there hard to get hold off.
I wouldn\'t worry about it too much, all the model differences are relatively minor, and all are still amazing cars, so I would concentrate on finding the right car and worry about the model later!
I still don\'t know what my latest car is, i\'m guessing it\'s a type-r but to be honest I don\'t realy care! :)
Unlike some car models which might range from 1.4litre 70hp to 2.5 litre 250hp or something, all rx7\'s are twin turbo with around 250 hp as standard, so it\'s not such an issue as it might be when buying some other cars.
thanks guys think i might try the auctions when i get a day off been told u can sometimes get a good car for much cheaper with vat and sva inc if not who selling one for round 4-5k mark :Thumbsup!
