Title: Alloy Wheels...Arrrgghhh!
Post by: Topaz on June 12, 2006, 06:18:21 PM
I have experienced my 1st problem!!!  Luckily though nothing too serious... :2Mad

When I bought the car I thought that the wheels had been sprayed black, although at the time I assumed they were powder coated because of the finish.  However in the hot weather over the weekend what now turns out to br acrylic paint has started to crack!!!  (Leaving horrible white lines showing on my black rims!!!)

I now think I\'m left with two choices, I can either have them sand blasted and powder coated or black anodised (and lackered)....Any suggestions? :xconfused

I work for an Aerospace company so I have some access to pretty good facillities to do the work but I don\'t know what would be best!

Cheers

Matt

Personaly I\'d get them powder coated as the brake dust doesn\'t affect it, where as laquer tends to loose its shine on the front rims because of the dust!!!

Im not too sure because I was looking for a mat black finish anyway, so the shine won\'t matter...Just worried about the powder coat being damaged with tyre changes etc, you only need a bit of water to break the surface and you can kiss the coating goodbye!
