Title: Weird noise when braking
Post by: vxer on June 10, 2006, 06:23:00 PM
Hi guys,

When i brake coming up to a set of traffic lights, as i come to a stop i can hear a weird noise from the front brakes - its like a hollow clunking noise.

Definately seems to be caused by brakes as when i let off, it stops.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers, Paul.

does the pedal sort of kick back against you when you hear it??

I wonder if its related to the abs unit - anyone know which fuse to pull out to check this? I.e which one is the abs fuse? :)

I was thinking he same thing....i was thinking poss faulty abs sensor or chipped abs ring? or dirt or something stuck in the ring/sensor. Im gonna replace the abs unit with normal lines.

Just pulled the abs fuse (the one with abs written on the fuse cover, for anyone wondering!), and its still makes the noise.

I\'m convinced its something in the mechanical action of the brakes making the noise...

ive read something about the caliper not being put back together prioperly? Some sort of pin? (cant say for certain as i havent pulled it all aprt yet?) I think it might be something to do with the pad notbeing fixed properly?

Yeah, i guess thats my next port of call - needed an excuse to upgrade those pads anyway!
