Post by: os giken on June 10, 2006, 03:34:18 PM
Looking for some info on where I can buy 5" exhaust pipe and a 5" straight through back box,or anyone that can make a big exhaust system like this for my car as i said it will need to be 5" all the way through, it also needs to be light weight.

Get it made out of titanium as well - that\'d be loud!!

Looking at your location I can\'t think of anywhere that can do it as they\'d need the car to check clearance. Theres a place in Essex that does custom ones but it\'d be a trek and I don\'t have their details to hand. Japanese tuner exhausts only go up to about 4 -4.5 inches as far as I\'m aware.

know anyone who works on the rigs ? most of the stuff they use will be far too thick walled but you may strike it lucky and find some lighter walled stuff for use on breathers.

Or find a decent comercial garage and ask them. 5" mild steel (no need to use stainless is there?) is a common size.  I have a scan courtesy of Kev Yorks that lists 5" bore mild steel pipe.

If this is for Keith\'s skyline, I don\'t think he\'d be too worried about the noise :)

I think Ben was thinking of Hayward and Scott in Basildon. I know that they can bend 4 inch stainless, but not sure about anything bigger.

Might be worth giving them a call to find out.

Keith . I would start looking a truck parts mate. I dont know the names of the truck servicing people in your area but they will surely have the pipe you need.

I suppose if you want light you could find someone to roll some for you out of sheet ... you are going to be a bit stuck for nice smooth bends though

The thin walled isn\'t that heavy and the pipes are bent not welded. Might be worth asking if they do any in more exotic materials. Dinex make aftermarket exhausts for just about every commercial vehicle in the UK plus a lot of the dealer stuff is made there as well so they should be able to sort you out.

Ahh the b00dy noise limits!! Why do we have to have these on tracks??

Sorry - it just winds me up every time!

Fish, yep they Hayward and Scott were the peeps I was thinking of! Must admit I\'d like to have a larger exhaust capacity.. I\'ll post up any useful info I find. Perhaps Dragon, Pip can get something made up?

Hi Keith
You could try C+C here in Glasgow.. they have done a few things for us in the past. Can\'t fault the guys work. They have re-packed a silencer for us too because it was too loud..
