Title: RX7 2 seater/4 seater
Post by: Rob D on June 07, 2006, 02:16:30 PM
Hi guys, a quick question for you all.

I need a 4 seater car......  i currently have a 300zxtt 2+2.

I notice some/most? of the RX7\'s are 2 seater.  Is it possible at all to convert a 2 seater to 4 seater? changing interor panels etc?

Many thanks in advance, but tell me quick lol........ i need a desicion quite soon.   :wiggle

The earlier FDs came with \'rear seats\'. Sadly, they\'re seats by name only (you can\'t sit in them unless the driver is very very short and the passengers are very very short)
:(

Yes. You need the rear seats from an early R1 / type X. People will be VERY willing to swap for the storage bins from a 2 seater ;)
You might have to lop a few inches off the kid\'s legs though! :2eek

the kids will need to keep their legs up on the seats or they\'ll get squished badly. I used to cart my 2 all over in mine.

I have the 2+2 model - and would be willing to swap all the bits over if the bins are in good condition?

The back seats aren\'t that bad I\'ve had 4 in my car plenty of times (although if any are over 6 ft its a bit of a struggle). The back seats look tiny but are not that uncomfortable over a short journey. Short legs defo help though.

I cant fit anyone behind me and am only just over 6ft. Had 3 in the car before and its a real squeeze for the passengers.

I personally wouldnt rate the RX as a 4 seater, in my opinion its only a 2.

Sorry if people dont agree, if you want space you\'d be better buying an Evo or Scoob. that said I went in a mates R33 GTR and that is really spacious in the back so\'d probably choose one of those.

I have rear seats in my Version 5 2000 model. My 8 year old daughter has no probs sitting its just the leg room, if the passenger sits back, not much room for her legs, but if the passenger sits forward, she has more leg room, but she says she cant see a thing because the rear seats are too low.

Thanks for the replies guys.  I know the rear seats are only for show, same as in the Z really, but they fit our two kids ok (ages 3 & 7). Adults will be a bit of a squeeze.

M@r]{, i will deffinately keep that in mind should this one turn out to be a 2 seater.

:D

i can fit 2 adult passengers in mine, you have to have the passenger seat quite far forward to get any leg room in the back, but its fine for short journeys. ive had 2X 6ft males in there although they werent that comfy :)
