Title: starter motor
Post by: banned advertiser on June 05, 2006, 07:01:04 PM
We have a 3 pot deisel mower that has had its battery charged but other than the click of the relay is dead, so \\Im assuming it may be the starter, have tried tapping it but nothing. I have just unbolted it, and wondering if its ok to turn the ignition with the starter off to see if its spinning, will it jam it??

Long as you hold it nice and tight or stick it in a vice or summit it twill be fine.
used to test starter motors like this, all that will happen is that the drive will fly forward and engage and then it will spin.

All a starter motor is really is an electric motor, so no worries on testing it.
