Title: Oil Cooler Thread Size?
Post by: Fish on June 04, 2006, 06:15:39 PM
Does anyone know what size the threads are for the oil coolers?

One of mine let go today, and I am thinking that instead of replacing with another unit with some years on it, I would upgrade at the same time.

Thanks
Fish

Hi Fish,

I asked the same question the other day, no answers so far.

From looking at Ausrotary it appears that the RX coolers are partiularly high-flowing and also have pressure and temp valves (dunno the technicalities or if relevant to RX-7s or previous models) - so maybe a straight replacement is a better option? I\'m not sure about a simple upgrade now...

Cheers,
Alex

I still dont know the thread size, but I have found out that you need to install a thermostat to keep things sweet.

Will start looking at working out whats needed tomorrow.

Fish,

Would be interested in your findings. My FD is a non-TypeR so only has one (pretty tired looking after 14 years) cooler which I was looking at swapping for an upgraded replacement. I\'d rather change it for an improvement instead of a straight swap as I\'ve got engine mods planned but now I\'m not sure what to do.

Cheers,
Alex
