Title: 2nd opinions please
Post by: arrouk on May 31, 2006, 03:40:51 PM
as a few people know i have been chasing a boost problem for a short while now, i think i may have narrowed it down.

replaced all vac hoses and used the reduced rats nest, see below.

tested all solenoids both with mitty vac.

all seemed good so i put it all back together and took her for a drive, i got 0.65 bar of boost till 4.5k rpm a dip to .4 bar of boost and then .3/.4 bar of boost till red line. i get this all the time i am driving.

so i start to dig deeper

tested all solenoids both with mitty vac and boost gauge plumed into lines for charge control actuator and charge relief valve, all worked as it should. so i plumed into pressure line from 2nd tubby (dark red on diagram)and found i only ever get max .4 bar on this line.

i checked the boost pills were both in and tested waste gate control and pre spool control solenoids all seams fine.

so now i think i either have a boost leek on the y pipe where it joins the 2nd turbo or a fduked 2nd turbo or a faulty ecu (only controls duty cycle of waste gate after 4.5k) so i do a very quick non seq conversion.  i got .4 bar of boost from approx 3k rpm so that tells me that the ecu is fine.

has anybody got any more ideas or at least agree with my results as i don\'t want to admit defeat and take it to pip £££ but i think i may have to for this work.

sorry about the long post but i have tryed every thing i can think of.

thanks
matt

thanks pete. i also forgot to mention that i have noticed a lot more oil in the pipe work for the charge relief valve which i dont like the look of..

The y pipes known for giving problems Matt. Second turbo end float check might tell you a lot also. Oil in the pipework isn\'t unusual depending on quantities

the oil in the pipe was proberbley close to double all of the other pipes, and how would i do a second turbo end float check?
