Title: Is is worth removing this to increase air flow?
Post by: GAZ666 on May 27, 2006, 09:06:58 PM
Is it worth taking this panel/box off now seeing as though I have hks induction kit on mine now, or does it feed air to the intercooler?

I wouldnt as it will help get cold air to the filters. This is unless you can put some ducting in.

Yeah I\'d to put some cold air feeds directly to the filters, but it just dont look like an easy job... there aint that many gaps is there

You could always get one of those headlight covers that has the vent in? That\'s what I plan to do shortly.

If you are talking about the pop up light covers I\'m afraid that they are more show than go, made no difference to air temps, but it did look cool :cool
I have seen a stock nose cone with the side lights removed and ductwork run from them that was one of the best intake mods I have seen, he made up some LED\'s for sidelights and indicators to keep it within the law.

Oh well, I\'ll figure out a way of venting some air in that case :)

I\'ve had a look and the only gap is from the front bumper next to the foglight on the passenger side... its possible to get a 3 inch cold air feed up through there but the tricky bit is aiming it towards the filters as the fuse box gets in the way..

If you look at the ducting the airbox directs air to the intercooler and the filter.  Unless you can duct to the intercooler then leave it in place.
