Title: Idle problem on new rebuild
Post by: ccd9aci on May 26, 2006, 07:58:07 PM
Hi

Have just rebuilt Gen 2 FC Turbo II, just got it back in the car and started and the idle is really high 3 and when left running it revs up to 4 as if someone is stepping on the accelerator.  When I did put my foot gently on the accelerator the revs went mad.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as want to bring it to rotorstock.

Cheers

I found when i first started mine the revs were all over the place, you have to run the car for a good 10 minutes ir so before it starts to sort itself out.....

have finally got the car started - after several floods.  The car started idle at 1000rpm but as soon as touched the accelerator jumped up to 2500rpm and wouldnt go back down again.  The accelerator seems to be really sensitive.  Left the car running for 15mins but still didnt drop the rpm back down

Any suggestions?

I have just had my engine rebuilt and im experiencing the same problems, i thought that i would buy a power fc and get it mapped, but thats gone tits up. I was told that its the idle control valve that may need adjusting or replacing. My car when it does start up doesn\'t ever go down to idle, its always on 2-2.5k rpm. I\'ve adjusted the throttle cable and that made it cut out when driving along, so i wouldn\'t suggest that.
Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers biggzy - i\'m glad i\'m not the only one with this problem - i dont suppose you know where the idle control valve is do you?

just took it out for a drive after getting back from rotorstock after changing a few bits that we\'d put on wrong after looking at some other cars there, it\'s still idleing at 2.5k.  The car drives except for an over amount of backfireing - so i\'m guessing too much fuel is getting in, not sure if this is related though or a different issue.

Have you got a standard ecu? take it to a rx specialist and get it mapped, does your car boost over 0 psi?
