Which out of the two are better? what difference does it make? just prolonged wear i should imagine?
Also, while giving the engine a rebuild, what other things could i do to it in order to give it some more BHP? any other internal tuning mods?
Cheers guys
Ant
I understand that 3mm seals are more robust, and 2mm seals give a better seal.
PORT THE BUGGER!! That\'ll do it...
Pretty much about it Bish
Mazda stock seals

Or these as used by most of the world record holders, and wont damage your engine if it goes pop.

if you have 2 mm seals, then i wouldn\'t lose any sleep over modding the rotors for 3 unless they have fallen out of spec at the apex seal groove for some inexplicable reason.
as far as building the engine goes, focus on getting the best port-work you can get and on supplying the engine with the best oil pressure and flow that you can. shave weight on the rotating assembly whenever an opportunity presents (within reason, of course).
when it\'s running, just make sure it can be kept consistently [/u] happy with coolant temps, fuel and timing.
2mm seals are fine [recommend Mazda 2 piece] as stated before the 2mm \'stock\' seals have better compression qualities against 3mm ceramic, the theory being that the 3mm will withstand det much better than 2mm, me, I would say get yer tuning right and you have no need for 3mm, unless you intend doing lots of racing.
2mm it is for me then! also you dont have the worries of making the space on the rotor bigger for them to fit into! sorted! i might just get it ported and polished, then go from there! thanks for your help once again guys. Ant
