Title: My First FD drive
Post by: Tomson on October 27, 2003, 10:00:04 AM
Hi all,

Drove an FD for the first time on Saturday and it was very nice indeed.  Car in question is a j plate single turbo, spec below...

Re-Build 6K miles ago
GT35 Single Turbo
Turbosmart dump valve
Apexi PFC + Datalogit
Uprated Radiator
Brise Engineering FMIC
Feed 500Hp Fuel pump (Similar to Apexi BNR33)
Feed 5 bar FPR
Braided fuel lines
1300cc secondary injectors
Relocated Battery
HKS Iridium plugs
HKS Twinpower Ignition
Leather Interior
Sunroof
235x35x18 Front 265x35x18 Rear
Braided brake lines

It was very fast, have made an offer and hope it is accepted..

Anyway the car would benefit from the following..

New passenger door grab handle
Clear reflectors and indoicators..

Any ideas where I could get these from ?

Also retrimm to drivers bolster in black leather.

Anyone know of a good coachtrimmer ?

Mazdaspeed front nose...

Is it possible to get the mazdaspeed front nose (the GT one), who could supply ?

Thanks for your help.

It seems alot of cars suffer from the passanger side grab handle failure!! is it just that mazda used cheap door handles?

Just heard from Steve, he has decided to keep the car...I am gutted - but hey there you go !!!!

The Hunt goes on.....

Was worth the petrol getting there - just to have a quick drive.

Sorry mate, a few of us have been trying to get him to keep her :)

£8.5K was way to cheap IMO.

At least you know what they are like now - although you\'ll be disappointed by a standard one now no doubt! Steve\'s has run 12.8 I think so its not a slouch. And I think that was low boost too...

Good luck in the hunt...

Mraraju - Please can you send me some info on your car and some picture to tom.ingram@sincomms.net.  I might be interested...

Also 20B_boy, I know I am fairly new on here and the last thing I mean to do is offend, but I thought Steve car was fairly priced.  I am not sure that modifications add any value to a car at all - and feel that in most cases - many FD\'s are way over priced.

I know from experience how addictive customising and modifying your car can be.  Last year I spent well over £20K fully sorting a Corrado VR6, my car was mint and I only sold it in March for £8.5K.  This was to be expected, and by no means was the car a business venture for me - just my hobby and pride and joy.

Steve\'s car was very nice and he has clearly spent a lot of time on it, and money.  However, the inetrior needed tidying up, there were a couple of dings on the paint work, the front wheel was curbed, the price did not include the stereo, the front reflectors were missing ( I think he has them), the interior handle was broken- by no means are this major things and I don\'t want to take anything away from it.  In fact I offered him £8.5K for it, but asked for the stereo to be included.  This is an 11 year old car afterall.

I will crawl back under my stone now..

Fair enough. Its a case of what some one is willing to pay. I would say a half decent 92 car is worth £6K, an excellent low mileage 92 could be worth £9K, even 10K...

Yes, you see lots of FD\'s advertised very cheap - but most of them are complete rubbish from what I\'ve seen (and I\'ve seen a quite a few). Steve\'s car drives well, is very straight and has some nice bits with low miles on them...

It seems that a lot of guys looking for one have a quick flick thru the trader and assume they can get a good one for next-to-nothing. Yes, they are bargain priced super cars, and yes there are lots of cars for sale between £4K and £7K. But a car is generally that cheap for a reason i.e. \'cause it cost F/A in japan because its a P.O.S.! :)

There are bargains out there without a doubt. But generally speaking - like most things - you get what you pay for...
