Guys,

I have a UK RX7, I want to do some things to it, and I just managed to get an amemiya ecu off ebay for 30 quid or something which was off and RX with decat and filters, would it be ok for me to just swap the old ecu out for the new one and add the decat and filters? Secondly, I\'ve noticed that my UK car seems to redline 1k RPM less than a J spec....any ideas on this? Lastly I think the compression isn\'t very good on my car either.....would it be stupid to decat it etc??

Hi Nick. The trouble is with these non mappable ecu\'s is im sure you can appreciate that every car is different so fitting these things are a bit hit and miss with the correct fueling etc, the one that everyone runs on here is the Apexi PFC as they are fully mappable and that expensive compared to others. Why do you think your car has poor compression? or has it been tested? I would say that fitting the ecu along with a decat, is asking for trouble and you will no doubt shorten the life of the engine even quicker, not worth the risk really matey. Not sure about the redline sorry. Hope this has helped.

Thanks for the info, Yeah I had it tested, adn it wasn\'t wonderfull. Don\'t know how long it will last. Front rotor is in mid to high eighties and the other rotor is in high seventies to mid eighties!....so not great!

Eeeeeek, those figures are a bit low, was it done with a proper rotary compression tester type thing? It might be best to start saving now, i dont want to be the always look on the worse side type of fellow, but it would work out cheaper if you get it rebuilt before it lets go and trashes everything (like mine did !!!) hope that it lasts for a lot longer buddy, with those figures tho maybe the ecu isnt the best plan :rolleyes:

No, 85 PSI = 5.78 BAR
80 PSI = 5.44 BAR

New engine = 8 BAR = 117.6 PSI
