Title: Front Strut Brace
Post by: Tintin on May 21, 2006, 06:13:33 PM
While the car is off the round theres a few little bits that I\'m going to get done , one of which it re spraying the strut brace , how ever to do this I need to unbolt the strut mounts , I figured that I could tighten them back up to the right position once its back on the car

Am I right in thinking this ???

You can remove just the centre section, without doing the end plates, unless you want to do those as well.

Yes just unbolt them and go from there. Make sure the car is on a level surface, so as to not put too much load on the one nut you dont undo.

Brace is already off the car , did it when I took the engine out , I\'ll have another look at the brace , didn\'t realise you could take the centre section out without altering the angle

I\'ve just painted my stock Brace.

Its easy, Take off the ends, Drill the two Pop rivits out (RX7 Plate) then you do your Paint work then refit the ends and repop rivit the Plate back on.

Bit of messing about but looks better when its done.

Cool thats what I wanted to hear , just didn\'t want to take the ends off and find I couldn\'t re-set the correct angle

I\'ll dig the brace out if I get chance this week

Its easy to reset. Just leave the end loose when you put it back, took 2 mins to refit mine and Tighten it up.

Nice one , I\'m fully reasured now

All thats left to decide now is the colour , I\'m planning on painting a few bits and getting some stuff polished but I can\'t decide whether to go for body colour ( silver ) which I\'m not too sure will look right against the polished ali or go for samco blue , I\'m getting rid of the old red silicon peices and replacing them with nice new blue ones

Opinions please

:)

I went for the Body colour (Black for me) with all the shiny bits looks 100 times better than red.
