Title: Engine Cleaning
Post by: Brainfire on May 17, 2006, 01:51:16 PM
As my engine is getting quite grotty looking, I was thinking of steam cleaning it, but the FD being the quite fragile, tempremental beast that it is, I\'m not convinced - can anyone recommend this, or is there some other alternative?

get some Jizer and a toothbrush - thats what i did - but it takes a while ( which is why mine in only 1/8 clean !! )

if you are steam cleaning - stick a bag over the alternator aswell - dont want that getting soaked

What about CD2 engine cleaner, I\'ve heard good and bad things about it, but I\'ve also seen the results and they are amazing.

Some people recommend GUNK and a paint brush? what do you guys think?

Jizer is similar to gunk - just a general degreaser

Always used the autoglym engine bay cleaner and a brush then used low pressure water to remove whats lifted up. Not too expensive for 1l and smeels resonably nice too !
