Any advice? What are you runnin?
Jay
In my very biased opinion....;)
Tein race setup :) Good uk support these days, all re-serviceable and it works!
I\'m running RE, Phil runs RS (I think).
Flex for more of a compromise towards road driving.
Are they too much road? Not gonna get used too often but dont wanna break my back?
Jay
I\'m running Tein Type HA and they are amazing for the track. The car stays incredibly flat through the corners and they just feel perfect. Look at the lack of bodyroll here:

The downside is that they are too hard for the road, even at their softest setting. They literally shake your fillings loose, and could do with being more compliant for British roads.
Hopefully someone here will answer that one. I know James (Stickers) runs Flex?
I went out with him the other day at Rockingham and it felt good, car rolled a little but he is running stock roll bars.
I still have all my teeth and the car has not shaken itself apart yet! tbh ride is surprisingly good, but you are aware that the suspension is taut.
I think the HA\'s are no longer available?
Zeal function V6 nothing better Teins don\'t come close...... expensive tho, Others are Tanabe 7\'s
Aragosta Sicama edition or Quantam\'s are also superb.
Or you could have what Max\'s car has. Car was well planted. :)
What spring rates do you run???
Jay
Jay drop me a line

IMO if more street than track then 9kg/mm on the front and 8kg/mm on the rear, more track than road the 11kg/mm on the front and 10kg/mm on the rear
with a set of Tanabe anti roll bars
as i said just my opinion
Mine are 16 front and rear.
And Max wears a gum shield when driving. :D

i had 16kg springs on my old scood, well uncomfortable on country roads.
The damping rates all play a part in how the car rides on track. If your not massively clued up on all that stuff then get something that has bump and re-bound that can be adjusted together inatead of seperatly.
Tanabe, tanabe, tanabe

Are you currently running Tanabe 7\'s on your FD? Are they pretty streetable or is the ride too harsh?

don\'t forget, 16kg springs on a rx7 is not the same as 16kg springs on a car with macpherson strut derived suspension.. since the lower suspension mount on a FD pivots half way down the lower wishbone, the force required to compress the springs is roughly halved.
Having experienced Max\'s setup, I\'d say it was perfect for track and not that bad on the roads at all (even the dodgiest belgian roads) :)
they where zeal coilovers on my scoob. i apriciate what you are saying difference in car etc but i can relate to the more uncortable road traveling with them with that higher spring rate.
I have only test driven a car with the Tanabe coilovers. Due to their patent design they allow alot more adjustibility. When i drove the car it was set stiff and they were stiff.
