Title: Running temperatures?
Post by: evildave on October 25, 2003, 11:16:36 AM
What is the normal running temp for an FD?
At the moment I seem to be stuck on \'cold start\' with the engine idling at 1500rpm. Ecu is reading under 70deg C while on the move but rises in traffic. My fans are set to come in at 94 degC , is this ok? What is the highest temp i should let the car get to?

Sounds like you have an air leak. This is the main cause of hi-idle.

70 degrees is very low as a running temperature. 80-90 degrees is about normal running temperature.

Something does not sound right.........

Are you not getting any other coolant problems? leaks? air in the system?

Cold start should come down before 70 degrees anyway, so it is odd that your car continues to rev at this temperature, unless you are not getting coolant into the cold start mechanism, which would make it \'think\' it was cold?
