Title: best wheel dimensions / make for handling
Post by: vxer on May 15, 2006, 10:52:16 PM
Hi there,

Right now my RX had 18" aftermarket alloys on, but i hear this size is not so good for handling - what dimensions work best and is there a particular make which is best?

Cheers, Paul.

Not sh1tting you bud, but if you want a proper set for the track, then you won\'t get better value!

I use 18\'s, I think 17\'s are the ideal size. Just make sure a large brake kit will fit under them.

The lighter the better, can\'t say what is \'best\' as such!

Having said that, you pay for good stuff. Magnesium wheels are around 1k a corner though :(

You’ll get the best handling on the road using the standard 16in lightweight wheels but 8.5 X 17 with 235/40’s front and 9.5 x 17 with 255/40’s rear work well on road and track. The make depends on what you like the look of or can afford but yeah lighter is better and deep dish wheels look the biz on FD’s.

Newera are currently doing an offer on Racing Hart wheels http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25731&highlight=deep+dish

If I was after some new rims I would be getting a set of these!
