Title: Displacement
Post by: Hellbilly on October 24, 2003, 09:09:04 PM
I\'ve seen twin-rotor 13B\'s described as 1300cc and 2600cc; which is it?

How do you calculate the displacement of a rotary, anyway?

the 3rd gen is a 1300cc, although for various reasons there described and classed as 2600cc

What reasons?

Its due to an early agreement between Mazda and the DVLA. Like the FIA, the DVLA didnt know how the properly work out the displacement of a rotary.

13B = 2*654cc

But when you think that each rotor has 3 sides, it should in fact be 3924cc\'s.

Take your Pick.

2 X 654cc
or
1300cc
0r
2600cc
or
3900cc
?

There is an argument for each, i personaly like the 3900 theory. It seems to make more sence.

But i guess Mazda know best.

If your buying a car already registered in the UK it\'ll be whatever it says on the log book [can be either] - mine\'s 1300 so I quite enjoyed paying the lower road fund licence. :D

The ones I had with 2600 on log book I hd changed to 1300.

It should ALWAYS be quoted as 1300, coz I just love the look on the porker, rarri, & lambo owners faces when I tell them that my ickle 1300 has just crapped all over them :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
