Hi all, i\'m going to look at a 93 plate RX7 tomorrow night, just wondering what sort of things i should look out for? It\'s had a recent compression so will check that over, it\'s apparently only done 37,000 miles and looks from the pics pretty straight overall.
Are there any hidden problems i should look out for or anything? Obviously i\'ll have the full AA check done etc
Thanks
Ian
Have a bloody good look round for crash damage, inside the boot, all round under the bonnet and under the car... basically everywhere!
My only other advice is try and get it on an open, straight, fast stretch of road and redline it through a couple of gears to make sure it pulls strongly and smoothly all the way through the rev range (a very slight hesitation at around 4,000rpm is normal).
HTH.
Rob.
cheers Rob, i guess the 2nd turbo is spooled up at 4000rpm? when does the 1st turbo start to spool up?
If you don\'t mind me asking is this the Black K reg in Bury? (AutoTrader)
If so i nearly bought it when it was for sale in Liverpool docks. When i saw it it Developed a Missfire and there was real Doubt over the Mileage as there was five in a row with Exactly the same Miles on.

Second one down, Its the Black Fd for £1800, It\'s not what it seems, My best mate was sat in it when the sales man blew it up ;) It was a clean car but there is no way it had done 45,000 Kilometers.

You should\'nt realy feel the first turbo spool up it should be very smooth, but there will be a Jump at about 4k feel a bit like a flat spot.
I sugest you read the Tip\'s section, it will give you an Idea of what to look for.
this is the one i\'m going to look at, i kinda know the owner and have seen it knocking about a couple of times before, the only reason he\'s selling is cus he can\'t afford the insurance

Nice, R2? Does it have Bins or rear seats?
Reminds me of Mine :) I have changed it a bit recently but it was simalar.
rear seats as far as i know, will know more tonight! :cool
right, finally got round to having a look last night!
started from cold, idled perfectly, no smoke at all, engine pulled nice and smoothly, brakes felt sharp etc
only small things letting it down but it\'s things i can sort, the passenger inside door handle with the leccy window control is missing, as is the mechanism i reckon, any idea how much these cost? also has a couple of small dints on a couple of the panels but they are really small!
Organising a HPI and RAC check today so it\'s looking likely i will be an FD owner soon
on the whole, very impressed with the car, the layout of the interior, the way it went etc :Laugh

covered by the RAC check :D
get it Comp tested Properly!!! speak to the Rac guy who does the test and ask if he has the correct Comp tester for a Rotary!! Also ask for a copy of the Results.
With the rotary try if poss to get a compression test for the engine as although not 100% it does give you a much better indictation of what you are buying.
The rest of the car is pretty much the same as buying another car really usual stuff to look out for, stone chips and slight scratches on the front nose are quite common as these cars are very low from the front :Thumbs-up
The big thing with the RAC/AA is you get the Compression test done with the proper Tool. I know of some one who had a full AA inspection and they gave him a Comp result of 115 and 120 ???? Thats does\'nt mean anything?? Most AA/RAC guys don\'t know Rotarys so they use the Std Piston engine Comp tool thats why its often better to get it checked by a Proper Rx7 guy.
