Title: Gbox alignment
Post by: B9 KLF on May 11, 2006, 01:35:30 PM
Went to fit my B&M short shifter and took everything off okay but the aperture in the transmission tunnel dosnt line up with the corresponding aperture in the gearbox below. The gearbox seems to have shifted over to the drivers side of the tunnel but without taking off the cover I would not have known.

Consequently I can\'t get even a small allen key over the base of the B&M shifter
to tighten up the studs.

Any thoughts please - maybe engine mounts?

I fitted my b&m short shifter yesterday and encountered the same problem.

In the end I had to bend a few bits of metal :eek  out the way so i could bolt it down. It wasn\'t structural so i figured it couldnt hurt...it was only a bit.

Only thing is because the body of the b&m shifter is larger than the original when i go left round a corner and put some power down the right side of the shifter hits the surrounding bodywork and vibrates.

Can the gearbox be rotated so that the shifter is more centrally aligned?

Darran.

I get this as well, thought it was down to poor engine mounts and too much power going though them. I\'ll have a look at bashing the tunnel.
