Title: Your views on importers...
Post by: Dr Gonzo on October 24, 2003, 02:01:57 AM
Hi all! :wave

This is all very very new to me. Having been used to walking down my local garage to buy a car for many years now, I find myself in a proverbial minefield of importers all ready to take my meticulously saved cash for a car I fell in love with way WAY before The Fast & The Furious came out! I can only be talking about the outrageous RX-7 and, yes, now is the time to do away with the Clio and get something good \'n\' proper...

..but I need your help...

For those of you who have bought your pride & joy through an importer can you post a reply of those you had wonderful experiences with?

.. and for those who had the not-so-wonderful experiences  you can either post a thread (if you\'re brave) or if you\'d rather spare the lawsuit can you email me at the address below?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Richard

Hi Richard,

Other members pointed me in the direction of Miguel at //www.neweraimports.com.

He\'s the MD & buyer based in Tokyo.  They have a UK (Canterbury) based agent who handles all the conversions

No issues - would recommend them 100%.  They specialise in RX-7\'s & he owns a beauty himself. Check out this months issue of Japanes Performance magazine for a review of his summer client party.   Plenty of others mentioned in a lot of these threads though, so I don\'t think you\'ll struggle to find someone.

Best of luck in your search - Neil

Indeed, I\'m in the process of recieving a car from neweraimports.com at the moment. Since the car is not yet here, I reserve the right to change my opinion of them later, but I will say that so far it has been an absolute pleasure to buy a car through them. Very confidence inspiring, and unlike some companies, they sem very good at keeping in touch with updates and information.

Yeah, they are up the road from folkestone.

http://www.motormall.co.uk/

People seem to be happy with them from what I\'ve heard, but they made a right arse of getting my car SVA\'d. Geff @ RE:Worx had to sort it out in the end for them...

As I said, I havent heard any thing much else bad about them and they certainly deal with quite a few cars so you should be ok with them.

Good luck finding them Si - they are well hidden down a dirt/grass track in Densole!! Dont rely on being able to ring them when you\'re local to get directions to them - I was trying for an hour when I went to pick mine up in May 02 - fortunately I stumbled over them in the end...

:)

Good idea about pterol stations; I picked mine up and it had all of, oooh, 2ml of juice in it :reallymad

Had to get my dad to ask the locals where the nearest station was and go find it for me as I didnt dare risk trying to find one with the spit left in the tank!

Sainsbury\'s or Tesco\'s had to do in the end (uggh), a mile or two away from recollection...

Hi Richard,

I have not heard anything bad of the companies above but l would also include  http://www.rotaryimports.com/ in the list as he not only is very credible but also only imports Rotaries !.

Heard good good things about Ben Linney as well.

All the best Clive
