Title: Bushes For A FC
Post by: grinder on May 09, 2006, 04:09:50 PM
Hiya chaps

was talking to the guys at the meet last night and i said that the car pulled to the left

one of the suggestions that the bushes were shot at

so after some digging i have found these :

http://www.nopionline.com/nopistore/dsp_part_detail.cfm?vmakeid=220&vmodelid=170&vcatyear=1990&vnopinum=410%2B0317&vTitle=MAZDA%20RX7%201990

this is a CHASSIS kit - so not sure what thats means ?

i also found a list of what the kit contains ( i think )

so have a look at the pics and the fitment guide thingy .... and ..... could these sort out my steering

or is there more bushes on the FC that could have failed

ta

stu

I think that is the full bushing kit, all the bushes for the whole chassis, inc steering and suspension

Would it be easy enough to replace all the bushes by yourself or are specialist tools required?

My FC also pulls left but I assumed it was just being affected by road camber - on a negative camber it pulls to the right.

Ahh,  I am still aching from dropping all my suspension front and rear to fit a full bush kit to mine today.

I got it from it ebay US for about 60 quid.  It doesnt have all the bits that are in the one above but it has the important ones. Front wishbones and rear trailing arms.

The front wishbone has 2 on each. The front anti roll bar has two. The rear trailing arms have one each and two for the rear anti roll bar.

While i was at it, i also got a set of rear steer eliminators.  Its a horrible job and mine wasnt pulling but i thought as i am putting coilovers on aswell i should do it.

The front wishbones arnt too bad to remove as long as your nuts arnt rusty.  You really need to remove them completely as you should press the old ones out and the new ones in with a proper press.

The rears are an absolute pig,  you have to take the hubs off, all the link bars and drop the rear subframe so you can get the cam bolts on the rear subframe to trailing arm.  You need to remove the hub completely so you can press the rear steer eliminators out and press the solid ones in.  Its worth doing these as they may be collapsed and causing your car to pull.

I have a friendly mechanic who is going to press the bushes in. (Cheers Jay)

I was quite lucky as i only had one bolt i couldnt get out which was on of the rear calliper bolts.  I am also changing my brake lines to braided ones, new pads and fluid plus the coil overs and rear camber adjuster so its a good time.

You also have to take the exhaust off from the mid box back to do the rear.  Its a dirty job but hopefull worth while and shouldnt be too difficult to put it all back (after wire brushing all the bolts and smearing them in copper ease to help in the future.

Hope this helps
